About

Welcome to the UIC History Department Internship Site for AY2023-2024! Here you will learn about how to identify the right internship for you, clarify your goals, and integrate the internship experience with your academic training. While internships are a great way for History majors to gain professional skills and experience, they are also an important way to use the critical skills you are developing in the classroom in the “real world”. Together, we will think about how work and academic experience inform one another, and how that interplay can position us well both personally and professionally.

This year, the internship program will be led by Dr. Rebecca Amato, affiliated faculty in UIC’s History department and Director of Teaching & Learning at Illinois Humanities, as well as PhD candidate, Megan Whirley. You can e-mail us by clicking on our names above or filling out the Contact form.

Special thanks to Dr. Rama Mantena, who founded this program in 2016, and Dr. Elizabeth Todd-Breland for stewarding it over the past couple of years.
